We have some exciting additions to this year’s Komen Dallas Race!

1.) Kids for the Cure® will be a fun and interactive area for kids of all ages to enjoy, filled with fun activities! Stay tuned for more details!

2.) Race Day Registration will be OUTSIDE next to the Volunteer Check-In tent. Outside race registration will allow for a more convenient and timely manner to register or pick-up your Race packet and head to the Race route!

It is with sadness and great appreciation that we bid
farewell to Hilda Avila, our Marketing and Events Manager.  She did an
excellent job managing our 2015 Race for the Cure®, and we will be forever
thankful for her service to our organization.  We wish her the best in
what new adventures are ahead of her!  While we will certainly miss Hilda,
we welcome the opportunity to strengthen our existing partnership with Event
Southwest, a Dallas and Austin-based consulting agency specializing in public
events, and particularly high profile events like our Race.

New in 2016 – VIP Tent

Want to receive VIP treatment at the Race? INDIVIDUAL
REGISTRANTS WHO FUNDRAISE $500 or more plus ONE GUEST will have access to our
NEW VIP Tent Area sponsored by Mentor and Digestive Health Associates of
Texas. Our VIPs will enjoy private bathrooms, hot coffee, snacks
and a comfortable place to hang out pre and post-Race. We know it takes a
special talent to fundraise to this caliber on your own without forming a Race
Team and this is our way of showing you our appreciation. If you’re
interested in fundraising but aren’t sure where to start, please reach out to
Robin Hansen, Development Manager, at rhansen@komen-dallas.org for great
fundraising ideas and tips.

susangkomenmissionfinal.jpg MISSION

WiNGS has decided to discontinue its women’s program, thus, they
will no longer be offering services such as screening mammograms, and patient
navigation. However, WiNGS is committed to keeping a phone line available to
connect individuals with other Komen grantees and community service providers.
Each community partner has its own eligibility criteria for the
services/programs provided. Therefore, please contact them individually to
inquire about eligibility requirements. You can find a list of the current
community partners, and their contact information here. The Community Partners offer services such as: screening mammograms,
diagnostics, treatment and transportation to uninsured and underinsured
residents of Dallas County.

Volunteers are essential to helping ensure that the
Affiliate’s Mission is fulfilled within our service area of Dallas County. We
are still seeking a highly motivated, creative and dedicated individual to
serve as a Kids for the Cure® Co-Chair for the Race. The Affiliate is always
looking for dynamic, passionate individuals to volunteer. You can learn more
about volunteer opportunities here. If you are in interested in learning more about any of the volunteer
opportunities, please contact Aisha Heath-Mission Manager at aheath@komen-dallas.org or
469-619-3906.

July Volunteer
Spotlight

The Volunteer Spotlight is a
unique honor given to volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty to
help the Affiliate fulfill its mission. We give a shout out this month to
Payton Souder, who had this to say about her experience
as a volunteer with the Affiliate.
