Be a 2020 Komen Dallas County BigWig!
Komen Dallas County BigWigs is a four-week fundraising campaign from March 2 – March 31, 2020 where local “BigWigs” don a pink wig and raise critical funds for Komen Dallas County. Through BigWigs, you will have the opportunity to join with your colleagues to raise funds for life saving screenings, treatment, and education services provided throughout Dallas County and have a great time doing it! Together, you can help us reach our Bold Goal to reduce breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50 percent by 2026. Triple Negative breast cancers are estrogen receptor-negative, progesterone receptor-negative, and HER2-negative. These tumors are aggressive, but can be treated effectively. About 15-20 percent of all breast cancers are triple negative or basal-like.

What’s In Your Hair?
Scientists at the National Institutes of Health found that women who use permanent hair dye and chemical hair straighteners have a higher risk of developing breast cancer than women who don’t use these products. The study published online Dec. 4 in the International Journal of Cancer and suggests that breast cancer risk increased with more frequent use of these chemical hair products. Susan G. Komen® Supports Bipartisan Deal
Susan G. Komen® and 26 other health organizations support the Congressional agreement that would hold patients and individuals harmless from surprise medical bills. An official statement from the co-sponsoring Senate Committees urged Congressional leaders to move swiftly on this new legislation. Read more here.
