SUSAN G. KOMEN DALLAS RACE FOR THE CURE® FINISHES STRONG IN 2018
The Komen Dallas Race for the Cure raised over $1 million to save Dallas County lives from breast cancer.
DALLAS, TX – December 7, 2018 – Susan G. Komen® Dallas County has wrapped fundraising for the 36th annual Dallas Race for the Cure. The Race, presented by Tom Thumb Albertsons, is the Affiliate’s largest fundraiser of the year.
Combined registration fees, individual and team fundraising, and corporate sponsorship tipped Komen Dallas County over the $1 million mark with a total of nearly $1.1 million raised.
Survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer are the heart of the event, and the top five fundraised over $63,000 alone. The top five fundraisers included Patti Estrada, Joyce Flatt, Donna Allen, Kelly Rose and Jennifer Lucas. “We are so inspired by these women and others like them, who have turned their own breast cancer battles into hope for others who lack the financial resources to fight the disease,” said Nicole Metcalf, Executive Director of Komen Dallas County.
The funds raised from the 2018 Race will provide life-saving breast health services to uninsured and underinsured women and men living in Dallas County, as well as breakthrough research that will one day find the cures for breast cancer. Local services include education, screening, diagnostics, treatment, patient navigation and transportation programs.
Since its inception in 1992, Komen Dallas County has invested over $26 million in local breast health agencies and organizations, as well as over $8 million in national breast cancer research.
Komen Dallas County looks forward to exceeding the $1 million mark again in 2019 at the 37th Annual Dallas Race on Saturday, October 26th at NorthPark Center. Dallas Race to be held on Saturday, October 26th at NorthPark Center.
